Happy New Year! 2019 will mark Empower Ethiopia’s 5th year since acquiring nonprofit status. Thanks to all of your support we are feeling more focused and determined than ever to ensure that all of the children at LetUsChange receive the care and nurturing that all children need to thrive. With the contributions from our recurring and one-time sponsors, along with our annual fundraisers and events including KanJam 2018, Ayenachew’s News, Clinton Kudas Swim Club Fundraiser, WHUFSD Change for Change Drive, New Jerusalem Church Benefit, Knoll’s Atomic Power Lab, Summer Mingle, Festival of Nations2018, and merchandise sales including berbere, scarves, baskets, and t-shirts, EE was able to provide $28,800 to directly benefit the programs of LetUsChange.

Empower Ethiopia Goes to Brussels!
Recently, one of our board members, Elmo Sapwater, had the opportunity to travel to Brussels to visit with Johan Vandenbossche and Eline Nys of Let Us Change. Empower Ethiopia and Let Us Change work together to help develop programs to aid in breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
Johan and Eline took time from their precious schedules to give Elmo a grand tour of Brussels as well as expose him to some of the finer drinks and food the area has to offer. The following day a train took him to
Leuven, their home base about 16 miles East of Brussels. It is said to be the eighth largest city in Belgium.
Then, there are the exquisite Belgian chocolates, the grand architecture and the 5-star food and drink.
Thank you, Johan and Eline!
